My recipe for Sheera

Everybody have their own way of cooking,  right from preparing rice upto  the desserts there are 100 different styles.

Today I will be writing the way I prepare Sheera. This is one my husband’s favourite, so much he likes that I hardly get a spoon to taste :)

Recipe for Sheera:

Preparation time:  Half an hour

  • Take half cup Rava and keep aside.
  • Heat a Kadai in a low flame and add 2 spoons of ghee. Now fry cashews and raisins till golden brown.

  • Now add Half cup rava and more of ghee. Keep frying Rava for some time until a light odour of rawness leaves away.
  • Go on adding ghee as and when necessary. Keep frying so that Rava does not stick to Kadai.

  • After frying , take out all rava along with raisins and cashews in a clean plate.
  • Now add 2 cups of water to Kadai and let it boil. Remember the proportion of Rava and Water should be 1 : 4, so 2 cups of water for half cup Rava.
  • Once the water is boiled, add the ingredients taken aside in a plate to this boiling water.
  • Allow Rava to boil in water for about 10 minutes until all water drains away.

  • Now add three fourth cup of sugar to this boiled rava in Kadai.
  • The sugar leaves all its water and Rava again boils in this sugar syrup. Let the flame remain low.
  • After the sugar syrup has drained away, add a pinch of cardamom powder and stir well.

Hot delicious Sheera is prepared.

This really takes not more than half an hour to be cooked. It comes out to be so tasty that eating time is not more than half minute :)

Note that you can add any colouring agent to boiling water so that sheera comes out to be colourful. I
prepare this almost every week so I avoid artificial colouring essences.
