Kid’s school activities are always
interesting. They bring out talent and creativity in both parents and children
and allow spending quality time with each other.
Recently, we had to work on simple projects
on science related topics. It was a science exhibition at KG level of school.
The display of model of solar system, food pyramid, water cycle, germination of
seeds, digestive/respiratory system in our body, domestic/wild animals, and
many more were included in the exhibition.
Today we see a quick demo of how to do a 3d
model of food pyramid.
Firstly, build a cardboard model of a square based pyramid.
You will need 5 pieces of cardboard in square
shape, gum tape, glue, scissor, white drawing sheets.
How
to make a square base cardboard pyramid
Cut an old cardboard box into 5 same sized
square pieces.
Retain one of the square pieces and cut the
other 4 pieces into triangles. Make sure the base of the triangles does not get
altered.
Referring the image below, convert the
square pieces numbered 1 to 4 into triangles. Retain the piece numbered 5 as it
is. It forms the base of the pyramid.
Join the base of the triangles to the 4
sides of the square using cello/gum tape.
Bring the triangles together and attach all
together using cello/gum tape.
This makes the 3-dimensionanl model of a
square based pyramid.
Use this pyramid to make food pyramid with
details of varieties of food to be included in appropriate proportions in daily
diet for kids.
