Easy Dal Fry Recipe
Dal (Pegion Pea Lentils) is the famous Indian Recipe. The
easiest one too with the blend of spices. The choices of flavour a little more
or little less varies in some degrees. But the taste is more or less the same.
Dal Fry is the simplest recipe with which one can begin the
journey of cooking. A dish that accompanies rice as well as Indian daily
breads.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup lentils.
- 1 medium sized onion.
- 1 medium sized tomato.
- 1 spoon ginger and garlic paste each.
- Bay leaves.
- Half spoon each of mustard, cumin, red chilli flakes, asafoetida powder;
- Pinch of turmeric.
- 1 spoon red chilli powder.
- 1 spoon garam masala (optional)
- Salt as per taste.
- Chopped coriander leaves.
How to prepare Dal Fry:
- Boil letils with water in a pressure cooker. You will need around 3 cups of water to boil the lentils.
- In a wide pan, heat everyday cooking oil or butter.
- Add mustard seeds, once they begin to dance, add bay leaves, cumin seeds, red chilli flakes, ginger and garlic. Sauté for a couple of minutes.
- Then add chopped onion. Further sauté until onion pieces change in color.
- Add turmeric. Optionally, 1 spoon coriander powder and half spoon cumin powder can be added.
- Then add finely chopped tomato. Continue stirring everything in the pan for the next 2 minutes.
- Then add the boiled dal/lentils and stir well. Add water to bring to the right consistency.
- Add salt, red chilli powder, aesofetida and garam masala powder. Stir well.
- Continue on flame for few minutes. Bring to the boil state.
- Granish with chopped coriander leaves.
- There you are. The simple Dal Fry recipe.
Serve and eat. Enjoy the taste.
