Rava Idli Recipe ( South Indian Breakfast)

Ingredients:
Once they splitter , add 2 cups of rava and fry at low flame. Fry for about 10 minutes till the smell of rava vanishes. Keep on stirring to avoid burning of rava.
Who said Mom’s
have lot of free time? I feel they are the most busy personalities in this
earth. Their job list never ends, right from decorating house till your
food. If the food cooked is not colorful , family never gets attracted, and if it’s not tasty , the food simple visits
the dustbin. So she has to maintain both the look and feel of the Food
prepared, I mean both marketing and advertising of the cooked food J. True right? Then imagine , how busy and tiresome is her daily routine.
So here I have an quick and easy recipe which brings smiles both while cooking and eating, recipe of Rava idli , colourful yummy breakfast cooked within 30 minutes. I
hope it helps all ladies to serve a different taste in their breakfast.
Ingredients:
2 cups of Rava
3 ½ cups of sour
yogurt
Peas
Chana dal
Green chillies
Ginger peices
Carrot grates
Coconut grates
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
Asafoetida
Salt
For seasoning:
Mustard seeds,
urad dal, curry leaves, 2 spoons refined oil.
Procedure:
Soak peas
overnight
Take a deep pan
at low flame. Add 2 spoons of refined oil, mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal and curry leaves. Let the mustard seeds
splitter.
Once they splitter , add 2 cups of rava and fry at low flame. Fry for about 10 minutes till the smell of rava vanishes. Keep on stirring to avoid burning of rava.
Allow the rava to
cool down
Take about 3 ½ cups
of sour yogurt in a deep vessel. Add soaked green peas, grated coconut and
carrots, ginger pieces, green chillies, Asafoetida, coriander leaves and salt.
Stir them well to
mix up. Now after the rava is cooled down, add the entire rava and the seasoned
ingredients to the vessel containing yogurt.
This forms the
rava idli batter. Leave it for 10 minutes.
Now take an idli
stand and add the rava batter to the stand.
Cook them in a
pressure cooker for 15minutes without using the whistle. (Cooking procedure is
similar to the common idli)
Switch off after
15minutes. Hot Rava cakes or Idli is ready to be served.
You can eat them
alone or serve with coconut chutney.
There are few
things to be kept in mind while preparing this recipe.
- Do not burn the rava while heating. This gives a bitter
taste.
- Sour curd will taste the best. Also if you add less of curd
the idli becomes thicker.
- You can add more of chilly to add spice.
