Only tea? What for tea
time today? What are you bringing along with tea?
These are typical queries that I am bombarded with in the
evenings, especially during lazy weekends.
What to do? What to
do?
This is my usual grumbling when it is nearing tea time when
the entire family is lazily passing time at home.
Here is one amazingly quick recipe you can try for serving
along with tea time. It is as simple as you hear about it.
1 cup dosa rice (soaked)
Half cup freshly coconut grates.
Salt as per taste
Oil for deep frying.
How to prepare rice buns for tea time snack
Soak rice, preferably dosa rice for about 4 hours. Drain all
the water, and add the soaked rice into a blender jar.
Freshly grate coconut, about half the quantity of the rice. Add
it to the blender.
With as little water as possible, blend the rice and coconut
together until they form medium thickened dough. Do not forget to add salt as per your taste.
Now knead the mixture a few times, and make small lemon
sized balls.
You can add some rice flour if needed to adjust the
consistency.
Now, with wet hands pat the dough ball into the shape of a
small bun and drop into hot oil pan for deep frying.
The bun puffs a little at the centre. And once it turns
golden brownish in color, it indicates that it is done.
Rice buns are ready to be served with tea/coffee.
This is a very simple and quick recipe which can be prepared
for snacks during tea time.
This tastes all the more wonderful when the rains are
pouring heavily.
