Introducing Mandala Art, Design & Ideas for Children
Often we hear parents whining about their child lacking focus and concentration in any activity he/she picks up. Parents are usually doubtful about their kids giving their complete attention to finish what they have started.
Well, Mandala is not a new term for we Indians. Mandala in Sanskrit is Circle. Mandala has great significance in Hindu and Buddhist culture. The word is connected to the spiritual power of meditation.
The concentric circles of a mandala represents completeness, wholeness of the entire world or universe.
Now here, since we are trying to introduce Mandala to our children; let us not dig deeper for inner meaning and how experts explain about mandala representing the life in universe.
With perfect concentric circles drawn and filled with patterns, the entire concept becomes a great topic of interest for kids.
The real fun begins when you ask children to fill the circles with their own patterns. The patterns filled in are usually motifs that are naturally found around us or when there is a rush of creativity in mind the patterns used are well known geometric shapes .
Kids begin filling up with the inner most circle with great care and intricate details.
The sense of responsibility in perfectly dividing the available space and creating repeatedly uniform designs leaps to a tremendous height.
The seriousness and focus in completing the work and concentrating to mark the perfection are major qualities we get to notice in kids who are introduced to mandala art.
Mandala, the art as such is addicting. Kids as young as toddlers get smitten by the beauty of mandala circles.
