Home Remedy for Baby Constipation


Smooth movements of baby bowels is very important for their healthy growth and happy time. Hard pellets or clay like baby stools are the symptoms of baby constipation. This is an informational article with few home remedies for baby constipation. In severe cases contact your doctor for help.

Raisins:

Raisins are the best coolant for appetite. Clean and wash just one raisin and soak in half cup boiled water for 2 hours. Once the raisin is swollen, smash as much as possible in the soaked water. Filter out the hard pieces of raisin. Feed this raisin water for 3 or 4 days. You will find release in baby constipation.

Remember not to continue this for more than four days as there are chances of catching cold.

Water:

Breast milk has 88 to 90% of water and all the necessity fluids required for the baby needs. So according to experts , breast fed babies do not require water until they are introduced to solid foods even during hot climate.

But in cases of baby constipation even though they are breast fed or bottle fed it shows your baby is lacking fluid.
Feed 3 to 4 spoons of warm water twice a day to release constipation. 

Oiling Belly button:

Greese your baby’s belly button with ghee or oil regularly. The belly button of the new born is tender and still remains as an opening. It helps to smooth the digestive system and relieves constipation.

Betel leaves is an common in India eaten as an mouth freshener and mostly grown in every garden. Pluck an betel  leaf whose leaf petiole/leaf stalk is soft and tender. Greese the petiole either with ghee or oil and insert the tip to the baby’s external opening (anus). Within few seconds you will find the passing out of excreta.

Remember: Not to insert completely into the opening. Just touch the tip slightly. It acts as a natural enema and has no side effects.
