Beetroot Sambar; with added taste of Tamarind and Garlic
Beetroot has been linked as a solution to so many body
ailments. Today here is one recipe of Beetroot Sambar. This is the typical
traditional taste of South India.
The main capturing taste of this sambar is the tamarind
water and garlic seasoning. If you miss any one of the two, then the sambar will
be a big flop.
You will need:
- 2 medium sized beetroot
- Tamarind (lemon sized)
- 1-2 green chilli
- Coriander leaves
- Salt (as per taste)
- Half spoon ghee (tor fry seasoning of sesame, jeera and garlic)
- Jeera
- Sesame seeds
- 8-10 garlic
Procedure:
- Soak tamarind in half cup of warm water and keep it aside.
- After cleaning the beetroot thoroughly, peel and grate.
- To the cooking vessel add all the grated beetroot and chilli. Now, squeeze the soaked tamarind well in water. Add this tamarind water to the cooking vessel.
- Boil over low flame for about 15 minutes or until the beetroot is cooked.
- In between when the beetroot is half boiled, add pieces of coriander leaves. After beetroot is fully boiled add salt. If needed, add some water in between for cooking.
- Now, top it with garlic seasoning. Fry garlic pieces, jeera and sesame seeds in ghee and add it to the vessel.
- Mix well and serve with rice.
