Facial Steaming With Herbs - DIY

Steaming the skin is best possible care we can shower to our skin. The warm steam on the facial skin opens the clogged pores releasing away dirt and oil which soothes the skin. Steaming with clear distilled water is known from ages but how about herbal steam? Herbal steaming is more effective something like aromatherapy.

Which are the herbs that can be used for steaming?

Neem:

Neem is a great toner for skin reducing the appearance of acne, blackheads and clearing the dark marks.

Steaming with neem leaves:

Boil 8 to 10 neem leaves along with distilled water in a clean container. Boil till the solution is concentrated.

Pour the neem water to a steamer and spread the vapor to the facial skin. Wash away the sweat after steaming for nearly 10 minutes.

Neem oil can also be used instead of neem leaves.

Turmeric:

The antiseptic herb heals all skin imperfections resulting in radiant skin.

Steaming with turmeric:

Add a pinch of turmeric to the boiling water in the steamer. Let the turmeric vapor spray all over the skin surface.

Rose:

Rose water is an excellent coolant and face cleanser. It helps to reduce sunburns and tan.

Steaming with rose petals:

Boil rose petals in water and pour this rose water to steamer. Let your facial skin breathe the rose vapor. Move the steamer in all directions of face and skin.

Lemon:

The citric lemon is a great astringent helping to remove grease from the skin and a treatment for acne.

Steaming with Lemon:

Squeeze few drops of lemon to the water-filled steamer. Spread the vapor all over the skin surface. Wash off and pat dry. Get a fresh radiant look.

Holy Basil:

Holy basil/Tulasi is a magical herb with healing components. Regular usage of this herb results in acne free skin.

Steaming with Holy basil:

Boil few freshly plucked Tulasi leaves in water and pour the herbal water to a steamer. Steam the facial skin with the herbal medicated vapor.

Note:

You can carry out facial steaming by just boiling them in a pot and cover your head down with a clean towel. But I prefer steamer/vapouriser as it lets out heavy vapors which can be spread evenly to your face and neck.
