Amruthaballi Kashaya - Regular drink for healthy living
Monsoon has arrived and what are we doing? Yes, we have started to complain about the weather. We complain about the summer, we complain about the winters and now the monsoon :). Monsoon rooted the water scarcity but it brings flu, cold, fever, skin allergies and many more especially to school going, kids.
The herbal solution which I am writing down today is not just for discomforts of rainy. It is a medicine to be taken throughout the year and throughout life for enjoying healthy living. Since it is more necessary during rainy, I made this write up now.
The kashaya is a mixture of 5 different herbs of which amruthaballi is the main ingredient which hordes the medicinal values of the entire nature science. That is why in Hindu tradition the creeper is used whenever we perform Dhanvantari homa/havan (praying Lord Dhanvantari for good health).
Amruthaballi/Tinospora Cordifolia: Amruthaballi/Giloy/Guduchi is a wonder herb and boon for a healthy life. It grows in a creeper form and has heart-shaped leaves. Intake of the herb boosts immunity, prevents flu and fever, excellent blood purifier, treats joint pains, improves eyesight and great medicine for controlling sugar levels.
Kirathakaddi/ Andrographis Paniculata: The bitter herb or famous as 'the king of bitters' is known for treating stomach pains, stomach worms and proper function of the digestive system. It is also a medicine for fever.
Neem: The herbal leaf is known for its antibacterial and antifungal nature curing all kind of allergies and infections.
Pepper: The spice helps in reducing throat irritations, cough and cold.
Ajwain: Ajwain is good for controlling stomach gas troubles and loose motions in kids.
Procedure:
Dosage:
Children
1-3 years: 1 tablespoon at empty stomach, 2 times a week
above 3 years: 1/4th cup at empty stomach, 2 times a week
Adults: 1/4th cup, 2 times a day (at empty stomach and evening), 3 times a week
Diabetic patients: 1/4th cup, 3 times a day (empty stomach morning, noon, evening) regularly

Procedure:
Take the ingredients in the following quantity
1) Amruthaballi/Tinospora Cordifolia: 4 to 5 finger sized stem
2) Kirathakaddi/Andrographis Paniculata: 2 medium size strands
3) Neem : 1 strand (4 to 5 leaves)
4) Pepper : 1 spoon
5) Ajwain: 1 spoon
- Crush the ingredients and boil the crushed herbs with water for 10 to 15 minutes. Once the solution concentrates, switch off the flame and allow it to cool.
- Filter the residue and discard.
- The solution has a sticky consistency, no matter as it is the property of amruthaballi.
Dosage:
Children
1-3 years: 1 tablespoon at empty stomach, 2 times a week
above 3 years: 1/4th cup at empty stomach, 2 times a week
Adults: 1/4th cup, 2 times a day (at empty stomach and evening), 3 times a week
Diabetic patients: 1/4th cup, 3 times a day (empty stomach morning, noon, evening) regularly
