Converting Mom’s Old Silk Saree into Cute Baby Frock – Designs, Ideas & Patterns
All of us
have that old set of clothes which we unknowingly, unintentionally, unmindfully
send to back row of our closets. And they stay there for ever without being
noticed.
And finally
when we organize the closets on one of those auspicious days, we hesitate to
discard those old clothes.
If there are
a few sarees in that stack of old clothes, then they do no harm at all. The
bright vibrant colors never fade.
We can
always lend a new look to our old sarees instead of just discarding them away.
With
personal preference of styling your baby’s clothing, the dress can be stitched
as a long gown or a knee level flare frock.
This black color
kanjeevaram silk saree with reddish maroon zari border is a unique combination
that makes it stand apart.
Using the border
just at the bottom of the frock and keeping a wide strip for sleeveless
shoulder, the design is just perfect to be worn by a toddler. Over the boxed pleat
folds, also include a sheer net cloth that is soft, lightweight, fluffy and
flowy and also adds bouncy volume to the baby frock.
After sewing
and finishing according to the size, create magic with embroidery threads,
kundan stones (stickable or stitchable), bead chain, stone lace, zardosi, pearls,
any possible embroidery materials. Bring your creativity out and make the dress
more attractive.
It is all
about making your very own baby dress design and pattern. The satisfaction and
pride you get cannot be put in words.
Have you
tried anything of this sort? Share your ideas of how you re-use your old
sarees.
