Homemade Substitutes for Cerelac Stage 2 : 8months+

Homemade Substitutes for Cerelac Stage 2 : 8 months+



Wheat Orange:

Homemade Instant Wheat Orange Cerelac:

Clean wash whole wheat grains and dry them in hot sun.
Once the wheat grains are moist free, blend them to fine powder.
Store them in a hygiene air tight container. Avoid moisture that encourages fungus birth.

Steps:

Pour drinking water in a clean sterilized utensil. Drop a scoop of the prepared wheat powder.
Stir well to avoid lumps. Boil the mixture in low flame.
Add rock sugar/jaggery as a sweetening agent.
Boil till it reaches a semisolid state.
Add formula milk for a better taste.
Peel a fresh juicy orange. Peel the outer skin and seeds of the flesh portion too.
Now depending on your child’s teething you can either add small pieces of the fruit or prepare orange squash.
Mix the fruit well with boiled wheat porridge.
Feed Wheat Orange porridge while warm.

Note: Choose fresh sweet oranges than the sour ones.

Wheat Honey:

Homemade Instant Wheat Honey Cerelac:

As earlier specified repeat the same process, clean wash whole wheat grains and dry them in hot sun.
Once the wheat grains are moist free, blend them to fine powder.
Store them in a hygiene air tight container.

Steps:

Prepare lump free wheat porridge that has turned semisolid just easy for the child to gulp.
Pour a spoonful of honey and stir well.
Feed the wheat honey porridge while warm.
Note: You need not add any sweetening agent (rock sugar/jaggery) while boiling as honey itself is a sweetener.

Rice Vegetable:

Homemade Instant Rice Vegetables Cerelac:

Clean wash rice flakes (white rice /parboiled rice) and dry them to crisp in hot sun.
In a dry blender, blend the rice flakes to fine powder.
Store them in clean dry container.

Steps:

Clean 3 to 4 spinach strands and a medium sized carrot.
Chop them to small portions and boil the vegetables to soft.
Here again depending upon your child’s teething you can either mash the vegetables with your fingers or blend them to smooth puree.
In a clean vessel pour water just enough to dissolve a spoonful of rice powder.
Boil till it reaches semisolid mass. Add water as required for cooking.
Once the rice porridge is done, combine the vegetable puree together and formula milk.
You can add salt or sweetener according to your child’s choice.
Rice vegetable pairing make a great combination and loved by infants.

Note:

Nestle cerelac included just spinach and carrots. Since it is homemade you can add some more vegetables like boiled beetroots, pumpkins and many more.
Boil the vegetables and rice powder separately as their boiling temperature is different.

Wheat Apple Cherry:

Homemade Wheat Apple Cherry Cerelac:

Clean wash whole wheat grains and corn grains and dry the grains.
Finely powder both the grains together and pack them in a hygiene storage.
Steps:
In a clean vessel boil the wheat corn powder along with enough water.
Form a thick porridge in low flame.
Add formula milk once done.
Peel and chop half apple and few cherries. You can puree the fruits according to your baby’s convince.
Mix the porridge and fruits together.
Wheat Apple cherry porridge is ready.
The fruits give a great flavor so you need not add any sweetener.

Shishu Aahaar Wheat Rice Moong Dal Veg Khichdi:

Homemade Wheat Rice Moong Dal Veg Khichdi:

Clean wash green grams, rice flakes, whole wheat grains and dry them in sunlight.
Powder the grains and store them dry.

Steps:

In a clean sterilized utensil boil a scoop of powdered grains along with water.
Stir continuously to avoid lumps and burning. Add water as required.
Switch off the flame when it reaches a smooth semisolid paste.
Include formula milk.
Pressure cook the vegetables (carrots, spinach, tomatoes and many more from your baby’s list)
Mash the vegetables or puree them. Mix them with porridge and serve warm.

Note:

Porridge can be prepared with cow’s milk only after the age of one year.
For 8 months+ infant’s , fruits can be given fresh without boiling.
Boiling the vegetables is mandatory.
