Chole Paneer Recipe - Indian side dishes
Chole/chickpeas are one of the most favorite pulse widely used in cooking Indian side dishes. Having a high nutrient level, kids enjoy counting the seeds served and gulp them happily. Chole garnished with panner chunks, makes an energetic and weight gaining recipe for healthy growing kids.
Here goes an easy quick Chole panner recipe served best with chapati.
Ingredients:
1 bowl Chole/chickpeas
1 bowl fresh grated coconut
200g paneer
1/2 spoon coriander seeds
1/2 spoon cumin seeds
3 to 4 cardamom
green chilli
chole powder
dry mango powder
salt
For seasoning: ghee, mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, cumin seeds and curry leaves.
Procedure:
Soak a handful of chole/chickpeas overnight.
Drain out the soaked water in the morning. Pour fresh running water and pressure cook the same for 3 whistles.
In a deep pan pour 2 to 3 spoons of ghee and heat in low flame.
Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, chana dal and urad dal. Fry all the ingredients till they turn brownish.
Now add the boiled chole and water till immersion.
Add turmeric powder, chole powder, dry mango powder , salt and stir well. Let them boil for some time.
In a food processor add 1 cup fresh coconut grates, coriander seeds, 3 to 4 cardamoms, cumin seeds and crush them to paste. You can add green chilies if you love spice.
Transfer the blended ingredients to boiling pan. Mix them well.
Garnish With Paneer
I have used paneer from Milky Mist, you can choose any of your choices or maybe even the homemade paneer.
Slice them into chunks and saute them with ghee for 2 mins in a separate pan.
Transfer the paneer chunks to the gravy, boil for 1 to 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
Mouthwatering chole paneer is done. Serve along with chapati or roti.
