How to Make a Paper Peacock - Easy and Fun Paper Craft Ideas for Kids


It is important to encourage your children to be creative and imaginative early in their childhood. Studies have proved that creativity helps them to be more resourceful and confident in later stages of life.

We share here a simple idea of making a paper peacock.

You will need – green origami paper, an ice cream stick, decorative sparkling items, scissor, glue, water color.

Preferably pick a rectangular paper in green color. Across its length fold it to and fro making pleats of about 1 inch. 

Press and make the pleats stiff and sharp.

Fold it into half and glue the inner ends together. This will make it look like an expanded hand fan.

Now, stick decorative items on the fan to indicate the beautiful peacock feathers.

Allow few minutes for the glue to set and dry completely.

In a new paper, draw the shape of the peacock’s body and illustrate it with some details like eyes, lashes, beak, and strips of feather on the body and neck, and such.

Once the body is ready, stick it on the fan shaped feather part. Allow it to dry.

Now, stick this peacock on an ice-cream stick and finish with its legs.

Peacock being a sign of goodness, happiness and well-being in Indian mythology, this activity of making paper peacock is just the right one during this festive season.
