Diwali, the festival of lights is just around the corner making us all busy wondering how to make this Diwali special. Let me see if these ideas can help you

Flower arrangements

Arrange colorful flowers in traditional patterns in the worship area of your house.





Rangoli




It is a practice in every Hindu house to decorate the outdoor floors and doors with artistic rangoli every morning welcoming the guests.

Relate the rangoli art to the Diwali festival , like make some colourful diya/lamps reflecting the festival tradition.

Diwali lamps/diya

Light the traditional earthen lamp with til oil in your surroundings. Buy earthen lamps, you will help the makers of the lamps this festival. Importantly avoid China made candles or any kind of wax candles.

Wall hangings

Decorative attractive hanging lights which glow beautifully at moonlight.





Diwali Sweets 

You are happy when tummy is happy, so relish the festival with rich yummy sweets.

Diwali Dresses 

It is a practice to dress ourselves with new beautiful dresses Naraka Chaturdasi.

According to Hindu mythology, it is believed on this Naraka Chaturdasi Lord Krishna defeated Narakasura and freed all the prince and princesses who were under Narakasura’s  slavery. Lord Krishna offered them oil bath and gifted them with new silk cloths and ornaments as the sign of independence and happiness. This is the true reason behind wearing new cloths on this festival.

Diwali Greetings

Encourage your child to make some colorful festive greetings for family and friends. This is a part of the child’s personnel growth.





Crackers

Burning crackers got the beginning from this Indian festival which later went wide the world. Though it includes risk, take caution and burn mild crackers to light this festival.
