The Special Month of November in Karnataka
Karnataka is a South Indian state with Kannada language widely spoken. Kannada, a popular Dravidian Language is very rich and it dates back to historic times.
Kannadigas, (people who have their native/ancestral roots in parts of Karnataka) in current time are spread across the world. Wherever they reside, Kannadigas hold a special value for the month of November especially the date 01-Nov.
November 01 is considered to be the Karnataka Formation Day. The day is celebrated with rich Kannada culture, rural folk, Kannada literature and historical importance.
It was this big day in the year 1956, that all Kannada speaking regions in South India were amalgamated with the princely state of MYSORE. After prolonged discussion, the state was renamed KARNATAKA on Nov 1st 1973.
Nov 2020 marks 65th year of celebration of Karnataka Rajyotsava as it is popularly called Kannada speaking people.
This year, the entire country has been looking forward to celebrate Deepawali after the grand celebration of 9 long days of Navratri and Vijaya Dashami. But Kannadigas all over the world prepared themselves for this state festival and then proceed to celebrate Deepawali.
Every community or locality terms this festival as 'NADA HABBA'. Nada in Kannada means Land and Habba means Festival. In total, the day marks the grand festival of our land Karunadu (Karnataka is derived from Karunadu).
What to expect on Karnataka Rajyotsava Day
The YELLOW - RED flag of Karnataka is hoisted by Chief Minister to honor the state formation in the capital city of Bangalore. There after state anthem is collectively recited. The crowd that gathers to witness the state festival being celebrated officially by Karnataka government shows the highest moment of pride.
Rajyotsava Awards are awarded every year to those who have contributed highly for the state development. Parades, tabloids, cultural events, are some of the other major highlights of the celebrations.
Bangalore is a must visit place to witness the grandeur of this official state festival. Flower shows, and decorations of important spots in the city are organized to attract people.

There are more cities that prepare extremely well and display the rich cultural heritage of our state on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava.
Davangere, Belgaum, Hubli, Mysore also celebrate this festival with such energy that many plan road-trips to witness the same.
This year (2020), Mysore Dasara Decoration of City Lights was extended for about another week until Nov 01 for more people to enjoy and for those who planned to travel over the weekend.

Big Tech Giants like Infosys, Wipro and others mark this day with great events of Kannada culture. Artists of traditional cultures, comedians who influence the masses with their Kannada speaking skills and literature expertise are invited to grace the occassion.
People by default follow the dress code of yellow and red. Colleges, schools, banks, private organizations, organize the program of celebrating this historical day.
