Steps:
- Hold the fabric horizontally
- Wrap around the waist, maintain equal amounts on both sides
- Fit knot at the right side
- Pull out the extra fabric from the right corner and make finger-sized vertical pleats
- Tuck them together at front waist placing center
- Pull out the extra fabric from the left corner from between the legs towards the backside and make finger-sized pleats from the bottom corner
- Tuck them together at back waist placing center
- Arrange the pleats neatly
- Dhoti dressing is done
It is a traditional practice to wear a shawl along with dhoti, but now it's a fashion wearing either silk shirts or kurtas.
