A Brahmin Marriage in Sringeri - Glimpses You Get To See In A Typical Kannada Wedding
A wedding is
the best that happens to anyone in their life. It is a life changing event for
the couple. And then when it is Indian wedding, it is totally a different
experience not just for the couple but also for the extended family. Being a
guest is tonnes of fun too since you will be treated as the special one at the
event.
This summer,
I happened to attend a Kannada Wedding in Sringeri. The glimpses I got makes me
want to attend more and more wedding ceremonies across all the Indian parts,
both pre and post events are equally exciting and entertaining.
Mantapa
It all
begins with the specially decorated mandap. The decorations vary with the
couple’s choice.
Muhurtha –
The Big Moment
The
Muhurtha, which is the special time to be bound for the lifetime. The garland
exchange happens amidst all the elders and near family members.
The long
customs and rituals
Coconuts,
beetel leaves, flowers, rice, haldi-kumkum, are the common things involved in
the traditional rituals of the marriage ceremony.
Everything
bridal
From head to
toe, everything the bride wears on this day has been worked with ultimate
details, no compromise at all.
The South Indian bridal hair-do is something that
none should miss having a look at. The bridal silk saree and the designer blouse
steal all the limelight.
The kids in
traditional clothes
Kids are
busy throughout the event. They run around like crazy people even in the long
lehengas and heavy worked sherwanis and kurtas.
Guests come
in equally stunning silk saree
You get to see
all bright colored clothings. Silk saris are always dashing when they are in
bold bright colors.
Various shades
of blue, orange, red, green, and even multi-colour saris with gold border of various
sizes rock the entire event.
Blouses
Wedding sari
blouses are given high importance. The designs and hand-work done on the blouses
are worth all the effort, time and the money.
South Indian
Jewelries
No woman
would want to miss the chance of a jewelry show. One will get the glimpse of
few of the master piece jewelries.
Attending an
Indian wedding simply means it is a feast for eyes and taste buds too.
