Bisi Bele Bath for your Lunch
This is a rice dish whose birth is from Karnataka. This
South Indian dish Where “Bisi” means “Hot” ,
” Bele” means “dal” and “Bath” means “rice” is a combination of
vegatables, peas , dal and rice. It comes out be sour and spicy. One bowl of Bisi
bele bath has all nutrient content and a complete food, especially for growing
children.
- MTR Bisi Bele Bath powder
- One bowl Cooked rice
- Carrot, Beans, Potatoes
- Tomatoes( not more than 2)
- Peas, Soya, Groundnuts
- curry leaves
- Sesame, jeera
- Urad dal, Toor dal
- Cashews
- Green chillies
- Grated coconut
- Jaggery
- Tamarind
- Ghee
- Salt to taste
Preparation time: 45
minutes
You have to soak peas overnight or soak them early morning
with hot water.
Recipe:
Cook rice in your normal way using a pressure cooker and
keep aside.
Chop carrots, beans and potatoes. The amount of vegetables depends
on the amount of rice. Let them be almost of equal quantity.

Now Pressure cook toor dal , soaked peas and soya seeds and vegetables separately

Take a kadai and keep in low flame. Add two spoons of ghee, sesame
seeds, jeera, urad dal , curry leaves and groundnuts. Fry till sesame
splitters.
Now add chopped tomatoes and fry for 5minutes. Add tamarind,
jagerry , cashews and two cups of water to it. Let them boil together.

Once the water is boiled, add boiled vegetables, peas, soya
seeds , green chillies , 2 spoons of MTR
bisi bele bath powder and salt to taste. Let it boil for 10minutes.

Now add boiled toor dal and fine paste of coconut to kadai.
Let them mix for 5 to 10 minutes till the thickness in water is found.
Now add cooked rice and stir them well for 10 minutes.

Add water if required. The consistency should be maintained bit
watery.

Serve Bisi Bele Bath with a spoon full of ghee.

You might feel the recipe
to be long way, but it’s really not. Simply boiling rice , dal and vegetables separately
and mixing them together with sourness , sweetness and spice.
